TEVYE C. Celius, Ph.D.

My training is in the area of physical organic chemistry. I did my graduate training under Professor Barry K. Carpener, and my project involved using deuterium labeled compounds to investigate a potentially dynamically controlled thermolysis reaction. My post-doctoral fellowship was with Professor John P. Toscano, and we studied photochemical sources of nitric oxide and nitroxyl using traditional photochemical methods and time resolved spectroscopy (TRIR and TRUV/Vis).

I took my first academic position at Bucknell University as a visiting assistant professor in 2003. While at Bucknell, I taught Freshman Organic Chemistry and Introductory Chemistry. I then joined the faculty at ONU as an assistant professor in 2005, and have had the pleasure of teaching General Chemistry, Sophomore Organic Chemistry, Elements of Physical Chemistry, Physical Organic Chemistry, Introduction to Chemical Research, Careers in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and our general education chemistry course. In all of my courses, I strive to incorporate the use of technology (PowerPoint, Moodle, molecular modeling, etc.), while at the same time maintaining a viable balance with more traditional lecture techniques.
