Courses taught:
EDUC 285 Curriculum
The course is a general methods for students preparing to teach at secondary or multi-age level. The focus is upon curriculum and instructional principles that result in effective teaching. It is a four hour course that involves 30 hours of clinical experience. There is no prerequisite for the course.
Educ 440 Classroom Strategies
A general methods course for secondary and multi-age students taught at the upper level. The course is more performance oriented. Micro teaching skills are emphasized the first half of course with students being video taped and critiqued. The second half of course students are meeting field experience requirements and video taped teaching at a nearby school site.
EDUC 445 Organization & Administration of Schools
The course is a requirement for all education students
and provides a general overview of the operation of schools. Coverage
is provided on such topics as legal aspects of education, social
foundations of schools, the manner in which schools are organized, the
financing of schools, teacher unions and teacher politics, and the administrative
structure of schools.
EDUC 475 Student Teaching Seminar
During the their student teaching quarter students
are required to attend a weekly seminar. The seminar is intended
to be informative and supportive for the students during the student teaching
experience. Guest speakers and discussions are employed to provide
information and resources to students regarding teaching practices and
employment procedures for teachers.
